The third grade is an exciting year. Our Bible curriculum looks at the life of Christ and the apostle Paul's missionary journeys as he establishes the church upon the foundation of Jesus Christ.

In English, we study the parts of speech, homonyms, possessives, as well as the basic sentence pattern, the direct object sentence pattern and the indirect object sentence pattern. Reading comprehension, identifying characters of the story, identification if the cause/effect relationship and critical thinking skills are built in Reading class. These skills will culminate with a class novel that we will read in the spring. Math concentrates on basic geometry, fractions, multiplication, and the beginning of long division.

Heritage begins with the Constitutional Convention and travels through history to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, on to the Civil War, and finishes with the Railroad Era. The class will choose a person from the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Civil War or the Railroad Era to study and present at Heritage Days.

For Science, students will study the solar system and how animals are classified. They will also study the parts of the human body culminating in a trip to Healthworks at Memorial Hospital.

At the end of the year, we will take a field trip to the Fort Wayne Zoo to look at animals from Indonesia, Africa, and Australia.
